Following on from the Excel Essentials we now move into more advanced processes.

Part 1 – Advanced Graphics & Charts

You know how to create a chart in Microsoft® Office Excel 2003 and choose the most effective chart type. Now learn how to customize it, enhance its appearance, and change any of the information on the chart.

After completing this course you will be able to:

Customize charts by using colors, adding shading and shadows to chart formatting, and applying number formats.

    * Make revisions to any information on the chart.
    * A short test at the end of each lesson; tests are not scored.
    * A quick reference card you can take away from the course.

This course includes:

    * Two self-paced lessons and two practice sessions for hands-on experience.

Part 2 – Importing Data

Learn how to import text files into Microsoft Office Excel so that you can work on the data in Excel, and how to update the imported data if the external data changes.

After completing this course you will be able to:

    * Use the Text Import Wizard to import text files that contain data into Excel.
    * Choose a method to import text files that lets you update the data if you want to.
    * Update the imported data if the external data is revised.

This course includes:

    * One self-paced lesson and one practice session for hands-on experience.

Part 3 – Macros

Excel macros are very powerful, and by the end of this course, you'll understand why.

After completing this course you will be able to:

    * Add a macro to a workbook.
    * Use loop macros to work with ranges of data
    * Customize the included VBA code examples to work with your data.

Part 4 – Secure Your Data

Learn what you can do to help keep data secure in Microsoft Excel. Use passwords so that only you, or a select few, can open a workbook. See how to help protect data from being changed by others. And learn some basic information about computer viruses, macros, and digital signatures.

After completing this course you will be able to:

    * Create strong passwords that can't easily be guessed by others, and use passwords to help keep others from viewing private Excel workbooks.
    * Select an encryption type for certain passwords.
    * Use passwords to help prevent others from modifying your data.
    * Help protect specific areas of a worksheet to control where data is entered.
    * Set macro security levels to help protect against viruses.
    * Check a digital signature to see if a macro was created by someone you can trust.
